Point of View of the Drone

2013

Graphite pencil on vellum, 7.5 x 13.5 in. each.

These drawings are derived from video stills of footage captured by an American drone in Afghanistan, which was seized by Iranian forces near the Iran-Afghanistan border in December 2011. The blurry, fragmented imagery highlights the distortion and ambiguity of perceived realities. By transforming the moving image into still drawings, the work further emphasizes the fragmented nature of the experience and the subjective lenses through which it is interpreted.
